FPÖ senior citizen spokeswoman Rosa Ecker has sharply criticized the black-green government. According to Ecker, the older Austrian population is deliberately excluded from official life. This is particularly evident in the case of the craftsman bonus, which can only be applied for online. Older people who are not familiar with computers or do not own one therefore have no access to this funding. Ecker described this approach as ignorant and discriminatory. She called for an alternative option to the online application, namely the analog application. It should not be the case that senior citizens have to rely on outside help in order to benefit from this funding.
Rosa Ecker's criticism is directed in particular at the ÖVP-led government, which has already taken a similar approach with the repair bonus. Ecker called for an analogue offensive to accommodate older people and those who do not want to keep up with digitalization. She stressed that the current situation excludes seniors from participating in society.
However, applying for the craftsman bonus online is not the only way for older people to benefit from this funding. According to a source from www.ots.at, there are various local initiatives that support seniors in the application process and the entire process. These initiatives ensure that even seniors without technical know-how or internet access have the opportunity to apply for the craftsman bonus. It is emphasized that the government is working in cooperation with various organizations to ensure access to the funding for all population groups.
With her criticism of the black-green government's craftsman bonus scheme, FPÖ senior citizen spokeswoman Rosa Ecker has sparked a discussion about the participation of older people in official life. It remains to be seen what measures the government will take to ensure that all senior citizens can benefit from this support. It is to be hoped that alternative application options will be created to ensure fair participation.
