The debate on the Lower Austrian state budget for 2025/26 was continued in the 18th session of the state parliament. The discussion focused on the areas of social welfare and housing subsidies. MP Josef Edlinger from the VP spoke about the state's measures to support the construction industry and simplify financing. He also emphasized the improvements in housing subsidies, especially in the renovation sector and in subject funding. Mag. Helmut Hofer-Gruber from the Neos criticized the financial support for housing subsidies and emphasized that the sale of housing loans does not contribute to budget consolidation. MP Mag. Christian Samwald from the SP spoke of improvements in housing subsidies, but emphasized that more needs to be done. Dr. Helga Krismer-Huber from the Greens called for a realignment of the funding framework for housing construction and rejected the investment of housing subsidy loans. Mag. Hubert Keyl from the FP emphasized the importance of acquiring property and supporting the construction industry. The group was accepted by a majority with votes from the ÖVP and FPÖ.
