#dif24: A unique festival experience on the Danube Island!

The Donauinselfest is the largest open-air festival in Europe and took place from June 21 to 23, 2024. With the motto "#myheartbeatsisland" it attracted numerous visitors. The festival offers a top-class program with free admission and is unique in its size worldwide. It impressively shows how affordable living and the highest quality of life work in Vienna.

The Donauinselfest stands for social cohesion, an affordable and modern Vienna and respectful interaction with one another. Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig emphasizes that the Donauinselfest is an incredible success story and symbolizes the heart of Vienna. Without the visitors, helpers, organizers and employees, the festival would not be possible in this form and size.

Barbara Novak, the regional party secretary of the SPÖ Vienna, has been a fan of the Donauinselfest since she was a child. She would like to thank all the people who work tirelessly to make Europe's largest free open-air festival possible. She is already looking forward to next year.

Matthias Friedrich, Managing Director of Pro Event Team for Vienna and Project Manager of the Danube Island Festival, also thanked the visitors for their joy, fun and solidarity. He also emphasized the great performance of the employees, emergency organizations and partners who made a peaceful festival of this magnitude possible.

The festival grounds stretched over 4.5 kilometers and offered around 700 hours of programming with around 1,000 artists. The 14 stages featured a variety of music from different genres. Young local musicians were also supported. There was also an extensive supporting program with sports and dance activities for all age groups.

The Donauinselfest places great value on accessibility and offers measures to enable participation for all people. It has been working with the Viennese accessibility consulting agency FullAccess and hallermobil for many years. The topic of awareness is also given high priority and implemented with various initiatives to enable barrier-free participation for all visitors.

The Donauinselfest also promotes social cohesion through cooperation with charity partners. This year, the LernLEOs of the Samariterbund Wien were supported. Visitors had the opportunity to donate their cup deposits to the initiative.

The Donauinselfest is a festive highlight in Vienna that brings people from all generations and different areas of interest together. It stands for music, art, culture, sport, fun and respectful coexistence. The festival is a symbol of the quality of life in Vienna and attracts numerous visitors every year.
