The Austrian National Council recently passed a series of changes to the professional law for notaries and lawyers. The amendment was drawn up at the suggestion of the notaries and lawyers' professions and brings with it a number of technical improvements. Harald Stefan, the FPÖ's justice spokesman and a notary himself, spoke positively about the new legislative package.
Until now, the decisive factor for being appointed as a notary was how long you had already worked in this profession. In practice, however, commitment to the chamber and other qualifications also played a role. With the new amendment, these aspects are now also anchored in law. The new professional law also enables more flexible cooperation between notaries. In addition, training obligations have been more clearly defined and it is now also possible to call in interpreters digitally.
FPÖ justice spokesman Harald Stefan stressed that the change in the law was developed in close cooperation with the professional groups and is therefore relevant to practice. Both as his party's justice spokesman and as a notary, he is pleased that the legal professions have now been made fit for the future.
