SPÖ leader Andreas Babler apologizes and KPÖ ready to compete in Vienna

Babler asks non-voters for a chance in an open letter

The chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ), Andreas Babler, addressed non-voters in an open letter ahead of the upcoming national elections on September 29. He expressed understanding for their frustration and dissatisfaction with politics and apologized on behalf of the SPÖ for its contribution to the current political climate in Austria. Babler emphasized that the SPÖ would be a strong support for those who are disappointed with previous politics.

The letter addresses a number of problems, including inadequate childcare, rising rents and a lack of pensions. Babler promises to address these challenges and find solutions. He encourages non-voters to give the SPÖ a chance, as he is convinced that his party has the opportunity to change the situation for the better.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) announced that it had already collected the necessary declarations of support to participate in the National Council elections in Vienna. The KPÖ plans to submit these declarations on Tuesday. In order to run in the elections, political parties must submit a certain number of declarations of support in each federal state. A total of 2,600 signatures are required across Austria, although it is also possible to run in individual federal states. The KPÖ is thus aiming to be represented on the ballot paper in Vienna as well.
