This warning is based on the statements made by IV President Knill in the ORF press hour. Holzleitner makes it clear that raising the statutory retirement age is not up for debate for the Social Democrats. She also rejects the idea that part-time workers should pay higher contributions into the social system, as demanded by Knill.
Holzleitner points out that half of women work part-time and that this is often not voluntary. There is still a lot of work to be done, particularly in the area of childcare. The deputy club chairwoman stresses that it is important to provide healthy working conditions up to the standard retirement age. Currently, around a third of women do not retire from employment. Age discrimination must therefore be eliminated and healthy working conditions created.
Holzleitner criticizes Knill's argument that longer working hours and savings on the corridor pension would benefit the state budget. She tells voters that they can prepare for possible pension cuts if the VP (People's Party) is again part of the government. Holzleitner reminds us that the VP has already been responsible for significant pension cuts in the past.
The SPÖ continues to demand the creation of essential conditions to give women the opportunity to work full-time if necessary. In particular, there is still a lack of sufficient kindergarten places, especially for children under three. The SPÖ therefore insists on a legal right to free, full-day childcare places from the first year of life.
