New political era in Britain: The changing nature of government communication
London (dpa) – This year's European Political Community was under a special star: For the first time since the last-minute elections in July, Keir Starmer, the new Labour Prime Minister, took over the organisation of the meeting. Despite the short preparation time, he managed to strike a new, conciliatory tone towards the EU.
The years of Tory rhetoricGovernmentwhich relied on confrontation and declared European institutions to be enemies, was finally replaced with Starmer's inauguration. His warm, welcoming words at the European Conference emphasised the common values and the importance of Approach to the European Union. This change of course was long overdue and marks a significant step in British government communication.
The open format of the summit gave the new Prime Minister the opportunity to present his vision of a more constructive collaboration with Europe. Despite internal political challenges, Starmer managed to draw attention to the common interests and the need for a closer partnership. This move opens up new opportunities for the UK and the EU and strengthens the foundation for future negotiations and cooperation.
