Berlin/Bonn (ots) – Following the results of the European elections, CDU deputy chairman Andreas Young made a clear demand to the Federal Chancellor. In a interview with the television station phoenix, Jung called for an urgent Policy changeespecially in light of Emmanuel Macron's performance in France. He stressed the need for a stable government and criticized the current traffic light government for its lack of cooperation. Jung also pointed out the importance of the pro-European majority in the European Parliament and stressed the responsibility of Olaf Scholzespecially with regard to the German Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The results of the European elections have shown that the pro-European stance has found a clear majority in the European Parliament. Jung underlined the importance of a broad political center consisting of Christian Democrats, Social Democrats and Liberals, which must now be used. He called on Scholz to clearly support the election winner von der Leyen and to support her as German Commission President.
