The decision of the traffic light coalition, Relief for farmers is a step that has been met with a positive response following the tractor protests in winter. The planned measures are intended to help farmers deal with financial challenges and strengthen their position in the agricultural sector.

One of the main changes concerns the income tax relief, from which the industry is expected to benefit to the tune of around 50 million euros per year. By being able to offset results from good and bad years, farmers can mitigate the effects of bracket creep. This tax relief, which was limited to 2022, is now to be extended to 2028 in order to provide farmers with long-term support.

In addition to tax relief, the relief package also includes measures to reduce bureaucratic requirements. This is intended to help farmers concentrate more on their agricultural activities instead of being overwhelmed with administrative tasks. In addition, the aim is to strengthen the position of farmers in the supply chain in order to protect them from unfair business practices.
