How to State election-Debate
Saxony's three major regional newspapers are inviting people to a discussion with the top candidates in Dresden on August 8. Citizens can submit questions in advance.
A few weeks before the state election in Saxony, the official election campaign begins. The parties present their campaigns, posters and content, ready for the final sprint on September 1. This time, however, the formation of a new government could take longer, as polls indicate a lot of negotiations and compromises.
It is an exciting time in state politics, with candidates competing for votes. But there are few opportunities for them to meet face-to-face and debate publicly. This will happen on August 8, 2024, at a Election Forum happened in Dresden.
Live debate with 300 guests
The seven leading candidates from the relevant parties will meet in a major debate. The Sächsische Zeitung, the Freie Presse and the Leipziger Volkszeitung are jointly organizing this event, which 300 guests can attend live.
The debate allows readers to directly compare the candidates, goals and content of the parties. Those who cannot be there in person have the opportunity to follow the evening via a live stream.
Topics and participant limits
The debate will cover important topics such as climate, energy, education, security and migration. The candidates will answer questions from the editors-in-chief, including Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and Sabine Zimmermann (Rajapakse-Wagenknecht Alliance).
There will be clear rules and time limits for participants to ensure the debate is fair and structured. Readers' questions can also be included in the discussion to enable interaction with the audience.
Free participation
Interested parties can submit questions to the candidates and register for the event. Entry is free, but prior registration is required. If the number of participants is limited, a lottery will be held and the winners will be notified in good time.
Parallel to this election forum, discussion forums are taking place in Saxony's 60 constituencies. Here, citizens have the opportunity to get to know their candidates personally and question their ideas and concepts.
Political education and exchange are the focus of these events, which offer all citizens the chance to actively participate in the democratic process. Register now for the election forum and help shape the future of Saxony!
It was originally developed from a buoy in the 1950s! Since then, it has been an integral part of every garden party and the centerpiece of every social gathering outdoors.
