Improving public transport in Zollernalb district
The teenagers and young adults in the Zollernalb district have clear ideas about what needs to be improved in public life. One point that is often mentioned is local public transport. Since 2021, in addition to the regular buses, on-demand buses have also been in use that specifically target areas with lower demand. These buses only run after prior registration.
Criticism taken seriously
However, during a policy workshop with District Administrator Günther-Martin Pauli in May of this year, the young people made it clear that prior registration is no guarantee that they will actually reach their destination or even catch the bus. Some participants reported problems with the concept.
District Administrator Pauli has promised to look into the matter. This promise is now being implemented by the district administration holding a public forum at the Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn School in Balingen on Thursday, July 18th at 5 p.m. The aim is to collect criticism, suggestions and requests regarding the on-demand bus system and to further improve and expand public transport in the Zollernalb district.
The discussion will not only cover the on-demand bus system, but also the night owls that operate on Friday and Saturday evenings between 9 p.m. and midnight. Unlike on-demand buses, passengers do not need to register in advance.
